What a great bird. Years ago when I and my parents travelled trought Hungary we saw a lot of them standing in the fields especially the males with their colorful heads often not far away from the roads. Especially in the mornings. Here in Germany you must have luck if you see one. Years ago, one landed in the middle of the road where I drove, but luckyly he quickly fly away to the other side, before I reaced the spot.

at last! a portrait of this nice pheasant... as a child i lved out in the moor - when we were underway running about just anywhere, we sometimes would almost trod on them, when they ducked in deep grass - our hearts would skip a beat, when they suddenly flew up, making this typical strange noise, that you`ll probably know very well... :D
thank you for sharing this wonderful shot... :D

You are right, I know that sound well :-) What I always admire about these birds is that they are really colorful, but still quite common (in our contry they live almost everyvhere). So you don't have to go far away to find exoticly looking bird :-)

yes, so true, but unfortunately we don`t have them around here... one of the most exotic looking(and sounding) birds here in germany is probably the golden oriole...
